Olokele Ditch Progress September 1902
O'Shaughnessy, M. M., 1864-1934
NUI Galway Library
Charted progress of the Olokele Ditch project for the month of September 1902. Progress for the month is measured by recording what percentage of each tunnel in the aqueduct project was completed that month, and the cumulative percentage of work to date. The other data captured on the chart includes the number of employees engaged in work on each tunnel, and the cost of materials such as fuse, candles, powder and caps. Includes a calculation of cost per foot of tunnel, and total number of materials used. The chart is signed William Sauer. O'Shaughnessy refers to this system of accounting in his memoir 'Engineering Experiences: From Honolulu to Hetch Hetchy', noting that he requested 10 day reports on the progress and cost data of the work.
